Trim back foliage from trails and pathways for better pedestrian access. Volunteers will bring tools to help cut and haul trimmings. Tools may include chain saws, power hedgers, and pruners. Only skilled operators will use a power tool. View website details for all instructions.

About the event

Opening Ceremony

Before heading out to your city project join us at Lone Peak High School at 8:30-9am for an Day of Service 9/11 opening kick-off ceremony. It will include:

  • Lane of Remembrance for 1st responders

  • Flag Ceremony

  • Free Donuts

  • Air Force Flyover

  • Walk-through Parade with Firetrucks & Police Cars with Handouts for Kids

  • MC by Kirby Heyborne

  • Musical Number "Star Spangled Banner" by Kristy Jenkins

  • Key Note Speaker by Kyle Fox

  • Musical Number "Original Guitar Solo Regarding Service" by Kirby Heyborne

Volunteering Details

20 Total Volunteers:

Power Team: 2

Trim Team: 8

Transport Team: 10


Power Team (2) volunteers are very experienced with power tools and safety, and each volunteer will bring a chainsaw and a hedge trimmer (no novices). This job is to trim tree branches and foliage overgrowth along pedestrian paths through the park. The Power Team are the leaders of each project and will coordinate with a Service Captain in advance of the project date to ensure project clarity and directions.


Trim Team (8) volunteers will bring long handled pruners and or a bow saw. This job is to cut the limbs off branches or otherwise trim the foliage for the Transport Team.


Transport Team (10) volunteers will take the trimmed limbs and foliage to the drop location near the playground of Highland Glen park.


All volunteers need to bring good work gloves, work boots / shoes, gear that may get dirty or stained in the work.
